Australia: The Poweroos – Thunder from Down Under

One of the youngest, if not the youngest Powerchair Football nations, Australia, steps out onto the international stage at the upcoming FIPFA World Cup for their first major tournament. Before March 2010, none of the players had even put on a guard let alone even heard of Powerchair Football and now they are all competing at the biggest event this sport has to offer.

In the short amount of time they’ve been playing, the skill level of the Australian players has risen very fast. Add that with the further tutelage at the Development Workshop held in Sydney in August by fellow players from France, USA and Japan, Australia is ready to turn heads at the World Cup.

While they know it’s a huge mountain to climb, the never say die attitude of all Australian athletes is sure to shine through hoping to prove that Australia has arrived, and is here to stay in the world of Powerchair Football.
